Two of the greatest tennis players in the world met once again in a grand slam on Monday morning. Venus & Serena Williams added another chapter to their on-court sibling rivalry with their fourth round bout at Wimbledon. Since Venus’ resurgence, the two sisters have played each other once each of the last two years. However, it’s been six years since they met in a grand slam tournament. Serena won the last match, which happened to be the Wimbledon championship final.
This match was no different, but still bittersweet, as both sisters are accomplishing the seemingly unthinkable—Serena is on a historical run for a career grand slam and tying for first place in most grand slam titles won; Venus is defying her age and knocking on the door for another championship late in her career. One can’t help hoping for both to be successful. But as sibling rivalries go…someone has to lose some day. Today was not that day for little sis.
