Have you ever wondered what it would be like to time travel back to American Slavery?
Me neither, but Send Me creator Steve Harper explores this option in his new web series. Starring Tracie Thoms, of Rent and Cold Case fame, as main character Gwen who has the power to send willing Black persons back in time to slavery. She has done this twice before, with one candidate never returning, and is currently considering a third. The two candidates for the next trip back in time to kick it with the ancestors are played by Grey’s Anatomy’s Jerrika Hinton and Switched At Birth’s Carlease Burke. The series also stars Beverly Hills, 90210’s Gabrielle Carteris, Fringe’s Jasika Nicole, and Ahmed Best of Star Wars fame.
The premise of the series is something I’ve never heard before and I must say I’m intrigued by the unique story line. The plot addresses the connection between Black people in the present and their ancestors’ lives during their struggle for survival. With such a stacked cast and a standout premise, I think this series has the potential to be phenomenal.
