As a dues paying member of Black Twitter, I’m obligated to make note of any time the conglomerate does something fantastic and/or in the general vein of wokeness. Yesterday, some racist troll created a meme in which he or she listed multiple ways Blacks in this country have #BlackPrivilege. Yes. Do not adjust your screens, they wrote ‘Black Privilege’ on purpose. The list contained cries of unjust affirmative action, being able to have pride in your race without being called racist and being able to falsely cry ‘racism’ whenever we get in trouble with the law. It was basically white tears in meme form.
This meme spurred a ton of sad and frazzled folks on Twitter to shout in agreement about how hard it is being white in America when Blacks are being all free and demanding rights and such. If these cries of white torment sound vaguely familiar it’s because they pop up every single time Blacks demand justice, critique Whiteness or breathe too loudly without asking permission from the nearest white.
True to form, Black Twitter co-opted the hashtag and made it awesome by highlighting exactly what Black Privilege looks like in America. Check out some of my favorite tweets from the #BlackPrivilege hashtag below.
