I know. I did the same thing, had the same pause, and had the same questions. But the filmmakers explain!
Did we mention we shot it in January, before, uh, everything?
“We want to make this film so bad that we shot a prequel of sorts to show the people that we’re serious. THE END AGAIN…was developed in six weeks and shot over two hectic days in January 2014.
We funded it out of our own pockets and the end result is directed by the hella talented Crystle C. Roberson, stars husband and wife Columbus Short and Tanee McCall-Short (did we mention we shot it in January, before, uh, everything?), and is set to a soundtrack featuring the amazing The Foreign Exchange.
THE END AGAIN is an emphatic reflective portrait of a couple’s joys and falls at the close of their six-year relationship. It stars Columbus Short, (“Scandal”) opposite his wife, Tanee McCall-Short (“The Losers”). Set to a soundtrack from The Foreign Exchange, the contemporary romantic drama illustrates the sometimes complex yet nuanced struggles that often accompany breakups as Jane Salmon (McCall-Short) and Joe Maxwell (Short) attempt to reconcile their personal battles of conscience against a love that still remains. The dynamic explores how missed communication, pride and heart-guarding in relationships can lead to unresolved feelings that question whether it’s worth staying or calling it quits.
I’ve seen the short and it looks good. Promising. My only question is this: for the feature length film…will it still star both Short & McCall-Short? Last we heard they could barely be in the same vicinity and retraining orders were involved.
And while I’m incredibly uninterested in their personal drama – I’m wondering how it affects the project overall. It actually could make for a really great film (think Drake, Taylor Swift, drug-addicted Mary J., etc.), or a really bad film if the chemistry is all wrong. Either way I hope we get the chance to find out.
The short is 15 minutes on the money. Watch it. Tell me what you think.
